Hold Those Pesky Papers
To say it’s been busy around here is an understatement…..work is buzzing along nicely. And, I’ve been meaning to get back and show the final shelf in A’s Workspace. Ta Da!
Each project now has its own box which holds those pesky papers. The second shelf holds all the project boxes and the table top is now clear and clean. He’s streamlining his work now and much more efficient.
Yoga Posture Clinic
Last Sunday, I spent 8 hours in a hot room [I mean really hot-like 105 degrees of hot] studying Bikram yoga postures with Diane Ducharme of West Roxbury, MA. Diane was amazing! Her energy is other worldly, matched only by her ability to move her body.
We all learned to move our bodies in new and unusual ways. Case in point, as Diane helps a student move thru a 360 degree forward bend.
By pulling on our heels, tightening up our quad muscles, we are able to pull ourselves into what amazingly feels good. No really, trust me on this. If you’ve never stretched like this, you should try it sometime. This bending motion stretches the legs, hamstrings, lower back and upper back….all while working out the biceps.
Which is good, considering that is what we came to do. After the 6+ hour clinic, we did our usual 1.5 hour practice. That last 1.5 hours flew by like nothing I have ever felt before. Quite amazing! Now, where is the Advil?

Oh What a Night! 4th Annual Gala Academy of Music
Great people, wonderful music, yummy food, and the cutest cocktails….all add up to a fabulous night at the Academy of Music’s 4th Annual Gala. My Sweetie re-designed the Academy’s website.
PodCamp Boston 2010
What a whirlwind conference!
Jam packed with fabulous people and information….going to conferences reminds me how much I love to learn. Add that to the MIT Microsoft NERD building and the view over the Charles River and it all adds up to a great weekend.
In fact, much of the PodCampBoston 2010 was about social media. Unlike PodCampBoston 2007 which focused on the production of podcasts, this year it was all about the application of podcasting, videocasting, blogging and all the social media and the applications of those media.
One very wonderful presentation [amongst so many] was given by Tamsen McMahon on Social Media. I liked this because it really pulls out the hype of social media and brings us back to the real reasons of ‘why’ to engage in social media.
Playing with BuddyPress
With the upcoming WordCampNYC 2010 and some other projects I have been playing around with BuddyPress again.
Coterie is a French word for a group of people who associate closely, a clique or inner circle. Seems a fitting name for an online community….@ least at this stage and until we get the final kinks worked out of the functionality of this type of community site and what we want to do with it. I must say, Steve Bruner does great job explaining the installation of both WordPress and BuddyPress in this video.
Web 3.0
We all have been hearing alot about Web 3.0 and this little video is a very nice graphic illustration of how Web 3.0 works. Exciting stuff! Just think of what you could do with 3.0 technology?
Workspace Re-Organization
Since I moved my office out of the joint workspace, I have been trying to get a re-do done on Andre’s workspace. This summer has been exceptionally hot and for the last 2 months Andre has been working out in the large room @ the dining room table. This has seriously limited the use of the dining table….for well, dining. Andre is a paper junkie [see image above left], which is probably one of the reasons I love him so. However, this paper habit was getting out of hand and getting all over the dining table. A re-organization of the space and USE of the space was sorely in order.
This office re-do was intended to be done, on the cheap and thus far we have been successful in keeping the whole re-organization under $100. That said, I have to admit, this last week I spotted those file cabinets on the street [for FREE] and we hauled them upstairs. Turned sideways there is space to pull-out the drawers and keep the table top narrow as I had envisioned.
The desk…..well, you can see what a difference so far. Andre is just settling in and he’s going to see how it feels and then I will help add any extra clipboards or containers. Speaking of containers, all those papers were weeded and then re-organized into magazine holders……one for each type of project Andre is working on. This way he can just put any papers [etc] related to each project into its own separate labeled container.
Each container is labeled with removable labels, so the boxes can be used over, after each project is completed brilliant! All the space above will soon become a shelf [leftover wood from the 4′ X 8′ plywood sheet] which will hang just above the tabletop. This will really free-up the space…..I can’t wait until those shelves are up.
